Gender Equality Starts with You

  • De Grandis Winery 140 Burnets Road Traralgon East, VIC, 3844 Australia (map)

For International Women's Day 2024 and beyond, let's Inspire Inclusion.

When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.

And what better way to get inspired about inclusion than with the equality advocate queen herself - Dr Emma Fulu.

About the Speaker

Dr Emma Fulu is a feminist activist at heart and has dedicated her life to advancing the rights of women and girls around the globe. A highly sought-after public speaker, she has a unique ability to combine her personal story with the latest data and evidence, to bring complex ideas to life and touch hearts and minds.

She is one of the world's leading experts on ending violence against women and girls and has led some of the largest and most impactful global studies and programs, including for the United Nations. In 2015, she founded The Equality Institute, a global feminist agency working to advance all forms of equality, which has grown to work in over 30 countries, conducted over 50 studies, and trained thousands of people.

It's safe to say, she knows what she's talking about when it comes to the difference between equity and equality.

To advance gender equality in Australia, reduce rates of harassment and inspire a new generation of leaders, an innovative and evidence-based approach to education is essential. Emma explains what workplaces need to do to create meaningful change and provides a 5-step framework for taking action in her presentation - “Gender Equality Starts with You”.

The event will also host a panel of local advocates for equality to discuss how we as a community can make change, what services are available and how we can continue to provide inclusion for all - not matter what their gender, race, sexuality or circumstances.

As always at a GWIB event, there will be the opportunity to network with fellow Gippsland women in business while enjoying light refreshments.
